The Behavioral Health (BH) Outpatient Team Supervisor is responsible for the administrative management of assigned multidisciplinary Teams within the Department's outpatient mental health and substance use disorders units. The incumbent is also responsible for the administrative and personnel functions related to all the members on the Teams. The incumbent must be independently licensed and must demonstrate administrative expertise in guiding the Teams to meet the needs of the veterans served. The incumbent will ensure compliance with the standards established by VHA. To this end, the incumbent will be knowledgeable of the current directives of VHA, Joint Commission standards, state licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. The incumbent will assure the team members they supervise are familiar with and adhere to these standards.
The incumbent supervises employees in order to accomplish the work of the organizational unit. Supervisory duties cover a multidisciplinary group of employees including social workers, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, addiction therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and clerical staff. The incumbent provides the administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. The incumbent works closely with the Discipline Leads for Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, and Nursing regarding professional practice issues
The incumbent performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. The incumbent provides guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and clearly communicates through the formal employee performance management system. The incumbent provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolve informal complaints and grievances. Improvement plans and recommended personnel actions are provided as necessary. The incumbent provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Disciplinary measures are invoked as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. The incumbent reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests. The incumbent assures that subordinates are trained and are fully compliant with the provisions of the safety regulations.

The incumbent will also maintain clinical case load (0.5 FTEE), providing psychotherapy services in an individual, group, and/or family counseling format. In this therapeutic role, the psychologist will perform the following functions:
1.Develops, implements, and documents the therapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including the prompt completion of clinical reminders.
assessment and psychodiagnostic services, which can include psychological testing, for patients with a wide-array of psychological, neurological, psychiatric, and medical conditions.
expert professional opinions and advice regarding the application of psychological principles to clinical services.
comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions including individual, group, and family psychotherapy, using evidence-based treatment interventions wherever possible.
education to patients, family members/significant others, and staff, and consults with the medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
6.Functions independently as a member of the Montana VAMHC Medical Staff with full clinical privileges and assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

License, Registration, Certification Requirements (as applicable)
Education
(1) Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
AND
(2) Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA. Exceptions: (1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offered full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement.
