The Clinical Educator is responsible and accountable for directing, coordinating, and participating in the delivery of educational and clinical programs for VAMTHCS personnel. The Clinical Educator supports the Vision, Mission, and Values of VA, VHA, VAMTHCS and the Learning Service. The Clinical Educator coordinates programs to assure staff competence in providing care for patients generally ranging in age from 18 years through the geriatric years, taking into consideration population-specific needs, including diagnoses and physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs. The Clinical Educator also assists employee development, assisting clinical areas and individuals to develop and implement learning plans. The Clinical Educator will direct and provide formal educational programs as assigned such as those set up by the American Heart Association, the VA Learning Organization/VHA Employee Education System, the Employee Incentive Scholarship Program and/or coordination of the VAMTHCS Trainee program.
The Clinical Educator maintains a collaborative working relationship with all levels of the Health Care System including clinical leadership, Learning Service co-workers, the Unit and Nurse Managers, Clinical Nurse Leaders, the Service Chiefs, and/or Supervisors, unit or service self-governing councils, the unions, and employees. The incumbent will direct learning initiatives and formal educational programs. This includes 1) assessment of learning needs, 2) development of learning plans, 3) implementation of innovative and functional training methodologies to meet identified needs, 4) evaluation of outcomes of learning programs, 4) analyze outcome measurement to create a continuous cycle of quality improvement through a foundational learning program. The Clinical Educator facilitates staff participation in projects and educational programs which promote their own development, and the improvement of patient care delivery. The Clinical Educator is responsible for gathering outcome data related to all aspects of the clinical assignment, then analyzing data from clinical units, to determine if an educational intervention is needed. S/he identifies and resolves problems of a clinical practice nature, utilizing current evidence based research and best practice resources to correct the problem in collaboration with administrative and clinical staff.
Working with administrative and clinical staff, the Clinical Educator will develop the clinical competency program including initial and annual competencies and technical skills, as well as means to verify these. Collaboratively partners with the other employees of the Learning Service, as well as topic experts and trainers throughout the health care system to develop Learning Plans at the Service level, Unit level, and individual level. The Clinical Educator will direct and lead the use of innovative technology such as simulation to support learning. He/she will demonstrate leadership in the application of simulation learning to improve staff competence, patient care outcomes, organizational processes and/or systems, outcomes at the program, service, or facility level. He/she will design simulation scenarios and educational programs to meet professional, community, regulatory, or accreditation standards. The Clinical Educator reviews and develops formal and just-in-time educational offerings, as well as in-service programs using the computer and a variety of technical audiovisual tools and software to meet staff learning needs. The incumbent is responsible for participation in the formal Performance Improvement program of VAMTHCS. As appropriate, the Clinical Educator will participate in the development or revisions of Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
The Clinical Educator will actively participate in workshop/continuing education programs designed for career advancement as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during training and implementation of changes in clinical care such as computer applications, equipment, and procedures.
The Clinical Educator serves as a content expert and resource to Clinical, Patient Care Services, and other staff. The incumbent must demonstrate excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication, and team building skills. Professional behavior must be modeled toward leadership, colleagues, para-professionals and all team members, in all areas, at all times. The Clinical Educator is responsible for ensuring compliance with recognized learning standards of the VA, VHA, VA Montana Health Care System, VISN 19, and regulatory/accreditation bodies.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
