These positions are aligned under the Nutrition & Food Service of the VA Medical Center located in Fort Harrison, MT. As a Food Service Worker, you will portion out foods and set up serving counters for tray and cafeteria service. Additionally, while working on tray line you will place one or more food items on patients trays after determining what foods to serve from the diet card and menu. Your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serves proper portions of food items;
Delivers trays to patient's bedside; and serves on cafeteria line during meal time;
Prepares fruits and vegetables for cooking and salad making
Operates electric potato peeler and food cutter, chopper, and slicer, along with other small hand utensils for fruit and vegetable preparation, and;
Works in dish room and will maintain all dish and utensil storage areas in a sanitary condition.
Work Schedule: Part-time, 15 hours per week; Sunday through Saturday rotating shifts between 5:30 AM and 6:30 PM.
NOTE: This is a part-time position (15 hours/week). Benefits and time-off accrual will be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C ( ). For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. You will be rated on the following Job Elements as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
1. Ability to do the work of a Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision. (Screen-Out)
2. Knowledge of work practices.
3. Ability to use and maintain serving tools, utensils and equipment (such as experience using standard food service tools, utensils and equipment in food preparation and delivery).
4. Skill in interpreting instructions, specifications (other than blueprints).
5. Ability to apply dexterity and safety practices (i.e. cleanliness, neatness, and concern for sanitation).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS : You must be able to read, write, interpret and follow written and verbal instructions. You must have a thorough knowledge of infection control, sanitation policies and procedures and modified diets. A high degree of accuracy is needed in placing food items on patient trays. Must be capable of organizing work and meeting expected deadlines. This position requires continuous walking, standing and bending. You must be able to lift heavy objects and push heavy carts and trucks. Work is accomplished under pressure of meeting deadlines. You must be able to withstand extremes of temperature. Work is subject to the possible danger of cuts, burns and falls.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
